News that wrestling is coming to Tap Social Taproom in Botley has been met with great excitement.

Having invited the wonderful wrestling crew from United Wrestling UK there last year, the dates totally sold out, so Tap Social has booked in four new bouts for 2023 starting on February 12 on Super Bowl Sunday.
There you will watch a resplendent array of 23 characters scheduled to appear at Day 8 ENDZONE, matches, tactics and results aimed at a family-friendly audience who fancy seeing some serious wrestling theatrics.
From “The Sparkly Sensation” Aluna Blue who leaves glitter wherever she goes, miscreants Adonis Payne and Artemis known as The Meme Team, the hugely popular, pint size underdog and current United Champion “The Gorgeous” Josh Nomax, the beer drinking, bat swinging nonconformist, Kira Chimera.
There is also a huge triple threat tag team match where three teams will compete to be the first ever United Wrestling Tag Team Champions. The Meme Team will take on “The Bodyguy, The Big Wavy,” Roy Johnson and the multiversial Alexander Roth known as The 87. The third team is made up of the odd couple of Harry Sefton and Rex Armstrong in this challenge.
“It’s all very tongue-in-cheek and throughly entertaining. You can’t help but leave with a grin on your face,” Rob Cunningham, Tap Social’s event manager said.
“We hosted United Wrestling UK, which is a local company, on May Day and they were an instant hit and sold out immediately. And they are so in demand we’ve had to book them way in advance.
“We didn’t even know if we could get a full size wrestling ring into the Taproom, but it fits perfectly in front of the bar.
So what can we expect? “All the wrestlers are pros and are all really good. They are a great mix of people too,” Rob says.
