“The standards have been really high this year and everyone has said how brilliant the exhibition is, so we are delighted!” Ruth Swain of Oxford Art Society tells us, following the opening of their annual members exhibition in Oxford this weekend.

“Lots of the work sold at the private view on Friday night which we were really pleased about, but there is so much more for sale, and it’s very reasonably priced,” Ruth adds, “but yes the feedback has been amazing.”

To clarify, there are 127 pieces of art for sale from some of Oxfordshire’s top artists. After a rigorous judging selection where 200+ pieces of members art were submitted; from sculpture to painting, textiles to ceramics, prints to drawings, the final selection was made, with 16 new artists making the final cut.

“Many of the pieces and artists on display are either award-winning or exhibit in big London galleries, so the calibre of the work on display is really good, and its such a prestigious venue,” Ruth adds.

‘it’s really important for OAS members to be able to showcase their work locally’

“More than that, it’s really important for OAS members to be able to showcase their work locally, which is why we hold this annual exhibition, which people really enjoy and return to every year.
