The Orchestra of St John’s has announced a stunning series of autumnal and festive concerts to get us in the mood with some wonderful venues to enjoy, from SJE Arts in Oxford to Dorchester Abbey, all under the skilful eye of conductor John Lubbock.

Here are the must see concerts to catch:

  1. 24 October: Schumann Dichterliebe, Prokofiev and Bizet. 6pm at SJE Arts, Oxford – New Zealand baritone Julien van Mellaerts for only the second performance of OSJ conductor and founder John Lubbock’s orchestration of Schumann’s gripping Dichterliebe, alongside Brahms Variations on a theme of Haydn. £15 – £20  Book Now

2) 6 November: Faure, Saint-Saens and Schubert. 7pm at SJE Arts, Oxford – A wonderful evening of sublime French choral favourites performed by Frazer Scott (baritone), from Fauré’s serene Cantique de Jean Racine to Saint-Saëns’ Calme des nuits, plus Schubert’s ever-merry Fifth Symphony. £15 – £20  Book Now

3) 20 November 2021. Faure, Saint-Saens and Schubert. 7pm at Dorchester Abbey. A lively evening of music perfect for warding off the winter chill!
