Dan Shotton & Mark Draper - Prospect Pubs & Bars

The Joiners Arms in Bloxham, Oxfordshire is due to re-open in mid-January 2022 after a full refurbishment and extension programme to bring the 16th century, Grade II listed inn back to its former glory.

New owners, Prospect Pubs & Bars are currently undertaking the major renovation project, whilst also adding to and enhancing the venue’s dining and outdoor areas.

Inside there will be space for 130 dining covers thanks to a stunning new orangery restaurant that has been added, alongside the current tables in the bar, snug and private dining room.

Outside, an extended 70-cover terraced patio will extend the venue’s alfresco drinking and dining, plus there’s a cosy hidden garden and children’s play area as well.

Built in the 16th century as an inn with courtyard and stabling to serve travellers that passed through the village, The Joiners Arms still retains many of the buildings original features, and its new owners want to continue to welcome visitors, tourists and locals alike.

Prospect Pubs & Bars was founded by Dan Shotton and Mark Draper in 2019 and this will be their fifth site, (they also own The Evenlode in Eynsham).

Aiming to be open all day, every day, The Joiners Arms food offering will focus on locally sourced, seasonal dishes, with a menu that includes all your favourite pub classics, as well as more premium ‘gastro’ dining options, daily specials, an extended grill section and plenty for vegans and vegetarians.

The drinks offer will include local and well-known beers and ales, alongside premium international beers and ciders, premium spirits, a wide selection of wines, low and no alcoholic options and a range of barista-made Fairtrade coffee and teas.

Dan Shotton, Director at Prospect Pubs & Bars says: “We cannot wait to get this much-loved site back up and running again.

“Building work is almost complete at the site, and it has been fabulous to see so many of the original features of this historic building being bought back into the forefront for everyone to enjoy.

“The Joiners is a fabulous country pub of scale, and all our sites stand by the same ethos – we aim to create authentic British pubs that stand up for good old-fashioned hospitality, offer a warmth of welcome and embed themselves into the local community.

“In a nutshell, they’re pubs that we would love to visit ourselves, and we can’t wait to put The Joiners Arms onto this list.”

With an accomplished General Manager, Sian Smith, already in position, and recruitment for the rest of the team well underway, Dan Shotton and Mark Draper look forward to opening The Joiners Arms to Bloxham and beyond in the new year.
