A new Oxford Producers Box has been launched today, carefully curated with local goodies.

It includes Saltpig beer sticks from the curing company in Chipping Norton, Sinodun Hill & Brightwell Ash goats cheese from Norton & Yarrow’s Earth Trust Farm in South Oxfordshire, Radley’s Peach Croft Farm’s asparagus (225g) and Degustibus sourdough bread made in Abingdon.

The brainchild of Bertie Wright and his team at The Wells Farm Shop in Abingdon, the owner hopes to support other local producers to get through the pandemic.

Usually busy selling award-winning cheese, fruit and vegetables, the farm shop and cafe in Abingdon has had to make some major changes of their own to get through the Covid-19 crisis, opening an online shop within 48 hours, which proved an immediate hit.

Hundreds of locals have since ordered the Wells Farm Shop produce boxes and goods, which can be collected or delivered, giving the farm shop a new lease of life.

Now Bertie hopes to give back to local farmers and food producers by selling their produce in the new Oxford Producers Box.

“We are trying to promote other products as much as we can,” Bertie says, “and a box that contains local produce will do just that.”
