Oxford Official Walking Tours has launched an exciting new Dreaming Spires and Splendid Ceilings of Oxford Tour.
These new tours, run and managed by Experience Oxfordshire, will open the doors of some of the most important ceremonial buildings of the University of Oxford.
“A great way to explore the city of Oxford, perfect for the winter months, the tour is ideal for anyone interested in the rich heritage of the City of Dreaming Spires,” Hayley Beer-Gamage, CEO of Experience Oxfordshire, said.
The tour will be led by an expert and qualified Blue or Green Badge Guide and is an opportunity to discover the fascinating traditions and mysteries of academic life in Oxford.
The tour includes entry to the Sheldonian Theatre, where all Oxford University students matriculate and graduate, the spectacular Divinity School, built in the 15th Century, and finally the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, where all university ceremonies once took place.
Hayley Beer-Gamage, added: “This is a fantastic new way to explore the city of Oxford, offering visitors the opportunity to discover Oxford’s unique heritage and traditions. We want to encourage and enable the exploration of cultural treasures across the county by local people as well as visitors, and this new tour is a great opportunity to do just that.
“Developed and led by expert guides, the tour is a great new addition to our growing Oxford Official Walking Tours portfolio”.
Annie Macdonald, Tours Desk Team Leader for Experience Oxfordshire, enthuses:
