It’s all go at Dosa Park‘s central kitchen in Kidlington, where their recently launched takeaway service is based, orders flying out of the door.

But the team have got their work cut out, because as well as supplying the Dosa Park chefs with freshly made sauces and batters in Oxford’s Park End Street and Botley branches, two new premises are being added to the portfolio.

Yes, the Cirencester branch is being opened at the end of March in time for Easter, in former Spanish restaurant Tierra and Mar on Sheep Street, and Witney is next in line this summer as the fourth Dosa Park restaurant will launch at No 1 Wesley Walk just near the Waitrose car park.

‘Cirencester and Witney are both such beautiful, historic towns, full of foodies, and have such huge potential’

At the Cirencester branch, Dosa Park will use the current, cheerful interior, but Witney can expect a full refurb in a similar vein to the new Dosa Park in Botley CHECK IT OUT HERE

“We are really looking forward to expanding and opening in Cirencester and Witney. They are both such beautiful, historic towns, are full of foodies, and have such huge potential. Plus, the feedback has already been really positive about opening up there,” Dosa Park’s Manikandan Velusamy tells me.

‘the key is not to lose our spark, so We are just really excited about the future’

So why expand? “So many people who come to our Oxford restaurants ask us to open a branch where they live, because there’s nothing else like Dosa Park, so we are trying to fulfil our customers expectations,” Mani explains.

“We know that it’s not about numbers, it’s about consistency, so we aim to meet our customers needs, and to deliver the same quality in all our restaurants,” Mani tells me.

‘People want unique, authentic food, the food we cook at home in South India’

So why is Dosa Park so sought after? “People want unique, authentic food, the food we cook at home in South India, rather than in English curry houses, so we use my mother’s and grandmother’s recipes. But more than that, people like trying new food, they might have travelled to Goa and Kerala and know what to expect. And if they come here once, they always come back,” Mani tells me proudly.

Dosa Park is a family-run business, as seen here outside the Oxford branch

Serving their traditional dosas (a thin savoury crepe made from a fermented batter of ground black gram and rice, served with a variety of fillings, chutney and sambar) as well as their signature idlys (savoury rice cakes) vadas (like savoury doughnuts), thalis and curries, you are in for a treat at Dosa Park – we love it there!

‘we know what we’re doing and have faith in our product’

Currently also preparing to open a trade Indian grocery store at their takeaway site in Kidlington, and with plans to expand Dosa Park further afield to Bicester, Bristol and London, Mani’s team is ready for the challenge.

“It will keep us on our toes. But the key is not to lose our spark, but we know what we’re doing and have faith in our product, our standards will remain high. We are just really excited about the future,” Mani says.
