The Jam Factory in Oxford has opened its own drive thru, to adapt to the current pandemic and stay afloat during lockdown.

“Our location means we don’t have as many people walking past the venue on foot, however we do have lots of traffic,” Jam Factory co-director Claire Gaskell says, “so the owner Andrew Norton came up with the idea of utilising the loading bay outside on Hollybush Row and starting up our own drive-thru.”

Having already decided to ‘go for it’ during Lockdown 3 by opening every day and evening 5 days a week for takeaways, the central restaurant, arts centre and bar hopes this latest move will offer something different to its customers and locals.

Andrew Norton adds: “People love a drive thru. There is something about the idea that reminds you of road trips or holidays. So we ae are blessed to be so well located enabling us to create that authentic drive thru experience.

General Manager Georgia says: “It’s been so wonderful seeing so many familiar local faces over the last week. We are blessed with such a versatile space and a contactless ordering system, which means we can still provide the expected Jam Factory level of service and food, while maintaining everyone’s safety which is of course our top priority.

“Our new drive thru just adds another level of safety and comfort for our lovely locals, and we can’t wait to see more of you!”

This is the Jam Factory’s first venture into takeaway: “We are trying things to see what works. We hope that our great coffee and seasonal food will be something that people pop out for when out on their daily walk or to give themselves a treat when they’ve had enough of cooking for themselves,” Claire adds.

Having already launched their takeaway Sunday lunch offering, The Jam Factory is definitely giving it their all. http://551.326.mywebsitetransfer.com/our-new-2021-roast-takeaway-guide-get-ordering-and-support-your-local-restaurants-and-pubs/

“Our roasts sold out on the first day which was tremendous to have that support,” Claire adds. “Daytime has been slower, but hopefully more people we get to know we are now open (after being closed for the last 2 lockdowns) and are here serving breakfast from 10am, lunch from 12-3pm and evening food (which is possible to pre order) from 6-9pm.
