St Hilda’s Crime Fiction Weekend is celebrating in stye with some massive names from the literary world congregating in Oxford, and the fun starts today.

To mark its 30th year with an all-star line-up of bestselling authors, attendees can enjoy a variety of talks and book signings from authors and experts including Val McDermid, Winnie Li, Alex Wheatle, Imogen Robertson, Charlotte Philby, Fiona Cummins, Vaseem Khan, Sarah Hilary, Chris Brookmyre, Jane Casey, Philip Gooden, Abir Mukherjee and Andrew Wilson, both in person and online.

Presenter and comedian turned bestselling crime writer Richard Osman, will be giving the after-dinner speech tonight.

Then the Saturday night gala dinner will be followed by a specially written celebrity â€˜whodunnit’, a murder mystery featuring a cast of much-loved authors.

The weekend’s guest of honour is Robert Goddard, winner of the coveted CWA Diamond Dagger Award (2018) and one of Britain’s most highly-respected crime novelists. 

Centred on this year’s theme, ‘Celebrations: innocent parties, guilty pleasures’, the guest speakers will explore why dinner parties and other festivities are so often the setting for dark deeds.

The St Hilda’s Crime Fiction Weekend was established in 1994 and is now one of the longest running crime fiction events in the UK and attracts an international audience from all over the world,

Acclaimed novelist PD James appeared at the first ever Crime Fiction Weekend, and the Saturday night dinner is named in her honour.

Iconic crime writer Val McDermid, an alumna and Honorary Fellow of St Hilda’s College, is also a major support and will be speaking this year too.
