The Michelin Guide is composed of some of the best gastronomic destinations in the world, and only six Oxford restaurants have made it into the recent guide.

Bhoomi Kitchen is now listed alongside 215, Oli’s Thai, Pompette, The Magdalen Arms and Arbequina as Oxford’s Michelin offerings.

Bhoomi Kitchen’s Michelin listing now states: “This modern family-run restaurant sees grandson Michael running the show. The menu features South Indian specials – mostly from Kerala – along with some BBQ dishes. Spicing is judicious, presentation is attractive, and thalis are available until the early evening.”

Owner Michael Raphel said: “It was a dream come true to open a restaurant in a city that I hold very close to my heart. Now for Michelin to recognise the detail in what we do so quickly is a huge honour. We opened in August 2020 and closed shortly afterwards because of lockdown for seven months. So it’s been very tricky to build the business.
