We are delighted to announce that Thame’s massive celebration of all things foodie is back in force, despite uncertainty over its future,
Thame Food Festival organiser Lotte Duncan says: “The last 18 months has been so hard for so many, so we are very pleased that the festival is going ahead this year after all.”
Which means that from September 25-26 you can enjoy all things foodie, from artisan and street food producers to bakers, celebrity chefs, a pop up pub, live cookery demonstrations, a dogs dinner, karaoke and even a bee sommelier, all at Thame Showground.

Throw in children’s activities, live music, a dog demonstration and show, plus a brand new area called Food Glorious Food Tent and your weekend is sorted!
“After having to cancel the event last year, and with everything going on, we have been holding our breath as to whether we would be able to hold Thame Food Festival this year,” Lottie continues.
“However we now have a lot to celebrate. Being an outside event helped, but we have also had the support of so many wonderful artisan and street food producers, chefs and bakers plus some amazing sponsors that are helping to make this happen.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming back our seasoned and fabulous producers. – especially our Artisan and Street Food friends, and some exciting new companies that are joining us for the first time.”
HERE ARE JUST SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS:
Artisan and Street Food Markets – Over 100 artisan producers will be showcasing their food and drink delights. You will be spoilt for choice…sweet, savoury, hot, cold, vegetarian, vegan – something delicious to suit every taste! Many will be offering samples, alongside workshops and demonstrations; or why not stop by and ask them more about their business, why they created it and how they have found the last year or so
Chef and Baker Demonstrations on the Big Cookery Stage – Topping this will be numerous demonstrations on the main Stoves stage, featuring Alex Hollywood, Steven Carter-Bailey, Tristan Welch, The Crabstock Boys and Jun Tanaka to name just a few. Plus the wonderful Sarah Wyndham-Lewis – a leading Honey Sommelier – from Bermondsey Street Bees will be joining the stage on the Saturday. She will be sharing the principles of making honey infusions and then will finish off with quick honey-based cocktail!
Food Glorious Food Stage – Get close and personal with many of our stallholders as they share some of their insights on their business, journey, passion for what they do and the personalities behind the businesses.
Pop Up Pub – Brought to you by FestivAles, these areas will be packed to the rafters with tasty tipples from local award-winning brews and cider (try the Peto Press on tap) and traditional ciders from Lilley’s in Somerset.
Dog Demonstration and Show Once again, there will be dog shows and demonstrations by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Enter your four-legged companion into one (or more) categories on the day. All money raised goes directly to the charity. Hug Pet Food will be supplying the prizes and there will be a ‘Dogs Dinner’ cookery demonstration on the Sunday revealing how you can ‘dine with your dog’!
More than just food – a Humble Country marquee of eclectic home and kitchenware, live music and karaoke sponsored by local Thame company Adactus.
Kids Entertainment – a dedicated Children’s Activity Area. Chinnor Rugby Club is hostingsport games and activities while local charity Thomley will be running face painting, glitter tattoos, archery, giant bubbles, and more. Plus, there will be all sorts of free circus workshops. Learn to juggle, polish your hula hooping skills or try you luck on the slackline, then head over to the Flotsam and The Fool Circus Tent.
Lotte Duncan adds: “We have worked hard to make this a festival that will appeal to everyone. Fortunately, as we have plenty of space, we can create something that people can look forward to enjoying safely, while taking in the delights and appreciating our many artisan and street food producers.”
Originally based in the town centre, Thame Food Festival has been going since 2008 and attracts thousands of people every year. It is part of the British Food Fortnight.
